MCPS Volunteer Screening Requirements. No required compliance measures: volunteers who support large and one-time events, and are accompanied by MCPS staff — for example college fairs, concessions and ticket booth sales at large events, guest readers, class celebrations. Child abuse and neglect training: volunteers who support students on an ongoing basis — for example student teachers, student interns, recess, lunch, dismissal, field trip chaperone. Child abuse and neglect training plus fingerprinting: volunteers who will have unsupervised access to students — for example virtual volunteering, volunteer coach, Outdoor Education, late night, overnight, or out of area field trip chaperone. Fingerprinting process and accessing the compliance training: 1. Contact the MCPS Background Screening Office to schedule your fingerprinting appointment; click for additional information regarding office location, hours of operation, fees, etc. 2. Follow the steps listed on the MCPS Volunteers webpage to complete the Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect Training.
