1. Don’t forget to drop off your KINDH donations!
Thank you to everyone that has already signed up to donate items for KINDH! Please don’t forget to drop them off on Monday. There are a few items left on both lists–take a look and see if you can help out!

Please look for your child’s grade level and provide to families in need.  All items should be NEW and unwrapped.  Please label all items with the family number so we can organize everything accordingly.  All items must be at Wayside by Monday, December 18th.

3. Winter Enrichments

5. Wayside PTA Update
Congrats again to the fourth grade team who received brand new indoor recess games!  Our last PTA meeting and Mrs. Freundel’s Restorative Justice meeting had the most 4th grade parents in attendance.  Stay tuned for our next grade level competition.

6. It Takes a Village
Thanks to Helena Lopez for planning Wayside’s Chick Fil A  Spirit Night this past Tuesday.  The PTA raised just under $100!
Our next Spirit Night is Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Founding Farmers.
We hope to see everyone there!

7. Reflections Update
Congratulations to our 6 Wayside students who are moving to the next level in the PTA Reflections Art Contest.  All 6 students will compete at the Montgomery County level.  Wayside is so proud of your dedication to the arts and we wish you good luck! A big thank you to Chuanwen Lu for chairing this year’s Reflections program.

8. Wayside is looking for Girls on the Run coaches to host a spring team for girls in grades 3-5.
Girls on the Run, a national non-profit organization, designs programming that strengthens third- to eighth grade girls’ social, emotional, physical and behavioral skills to successfully navigate life experiences.”  Coaches mentor and instruct girls on confidence, inclusion and healthy habits for life while training for a 5k run.

Practices are twice a week from March through May, culminating in a 5k run with the Montgomery County communities.

Wayside requires dedicated parent coaches for the program to operate successfully. We are still looking for a couple coaches in order to have a Girls on the Run program at Wayside this spring.

NEW Coach Training:

Before leading a team, new coaches are required to complete both online and in-person training. To initiate the process, volunteers must register with Pinwheel and complete a 4 to 5-hour online course. Additionally, Girls on the Run has recently introduced an app that enables trainees to access the course from their smartphone, in addition to their desktop computer. Once the online course is completed, volunteers must attend a 1.5-hour in-person lesson demonstration (exact dates and times will be announced soon). After successfully completing both the online and in-person training, volunteers will be certified as a Girls on the Run coach.

Please reach out to Kristin Silbowitz at activities@waysidepta.org if you are interested.

9. Wayside’s Skate Night is on January 13th!

RSVP for Skate Night by 1/8/24–please include the number of skaters and skate rentals you will need. The PTA will cover the admission fee for each skater.  Skate rentals are $4, payable at the rink. Spectators are free.
