1. Potomac Pizza Spirit Night is on November 15th!

2. Reflections 2023-2024
Discover your world and explore new cultures or your own through dance, film, literature, music, photography, or visual arts. No experience is required to participate in Reflections! Be recognized as an artist in your community. Choose the arts category you’re interested in, create an original piece of artwork based on the 2023-2024 theme:

“I am Hopeful Because…”

For more than 50 years, National PTA has celebrated the imagination and creativity of students through the Reflections program. Reflections is a unique arts-in-education effort as it engages all students, including two age groups for elementary schools: Primary for K through grade 2, and Intermediate for grade 3 through grade 5.

There are six categories for this friendly competition, and participants can enter in more than one category. The six categories are:
1. Dance Choreography
2. Film Production
3. Literature
4. Music Composition
5. Photography
6. Visual Arts
There is also a division for the Special Artists.

How to participate in Reflections 2023-2024:
1. Create your work of art based on the theme “I am Hopeful Because…”
2. Complete the entry form for Wayside students found here
3. Email your completed form to Chuanwen Lu at c.lumails@gmail.com by Monday, November 20th

Thank you to everyone that shopped our Book Fair this year! It was a huge success!

Thank you to Ms. Weinbaum, Ms. Young, Ms. Bajwa, Ms. Drannan and Ms. Wells for sharing stories at Teacher Reading Night!

Thank you to our Book Fair committee–Marion Haberman, Kim Truong, Kristen Lavender, Kirsten Carr and Melissa Adler–for organizing this year’s book fair!

And a big thank you to all our parent volunteers (Radha Gajjar, Sharon Chang, Aashima Palmer, Elaine Liu, Amanda Burks, Lisa Klein, Laura Rettinger, Jaime Edlow, Gisselle Gutierrez, Michelle Martin, Amy Bernstein, Christina Superina, Padi Noohi, Christen Dietz, Claire Lee, Jing Shi, Jonathan Carr, Neely Horak and Winnie Lee) who helped make this year’s book fair happen!

Our Kindergarten teachers got to spend $50 at the book fair since Kindergarten won the spirit wear competition!

6. Green Team Meeting Change

The Green Team will be meeting this week on Tuesday, November 14th, at 8:30am in the media center. Please email greenteam@waysidepta.org if you plan to attend.

7. Anti-Bullying Strategies for Parents
November 14th DEI Meeting–Parent Resource Session–Anti-Bullying Strategies.
Is my child being bullied? Is my child a bully? Or are kids just being kids? Come and hear from a school/family therapist about strategies for building your child’s resilience and for managing interpersonal relationships and challenges at school. This is an in-person event on Tuesday, 11/14, at 6:30pm in the Potomac Elementary School All Purpose Room. Child care will be provided. Sign up HERE to register for this session and to let us know if you need childcare.

8. 2nd General PTA Meeting
Save the date for our next PTA meeting at Wayside ES on December 5th at 6pm.
The brief PTA meeting will be followed by a presentation on Restorative Justice by Ms. Freundel.
