1. CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WAYSIDE STAFF, TEACHERS AND FACULTY WHO HIT THEIR MEMBERSHIP GOAL OF 55 PTA MEMBERS!
We are so thankful for your collaboration, partnership and drive to support our children and community at large.

The faculty and staff of Wayside send their GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION to the Wayside community for all of the Amazon wish list fulfillments. They have been overwhelmed with materials that would not have been made possible otherwise.

Wish lists will remain in our Weekly Waves so when families want to give back, you can easily see what is needed throughout the year. Lists will be updated by faculty on an as needed basis.

2. Join the PTA today!
We challenge the community to follow in the Wayside faculty’s footsteps and help us meet our family membership goal! We need 70 more families. Membership by grade level coming next week so if you haven’t joined to represent your grade, consider doing it today!

The PTA sponsors special events such as Bingo Night, Multicultural Night and STEM Night. We provide instructional support like Generation Genius and have several assemblies and author visits planned for this year including bullying, a Nigerian Folktale author, Lunar New Year Chinese Lion Dance and a hip hop artist. The Book Fair is hosted by the PTA and we show our teachers and staff appreciation throughout the year!

$35 Membership Fee (covers county, state and national fees)

$100 Donation (we respectfully request a $100 donation per family so that we can run all of our programming)

3. Sign up for After School Enrichments
The last day to register for after school Enrichments is Tuesday! Sign up today! Any organization that does not meet it’s minimum requirement will be forced to cancel so gather your friends and sign up today for fall enrichments through Kiddo! Please read the dates carefully as each program follows its own schedule.

4. Recess Equipment
Please speak with your children about how recess equipment is being used. While the faculty and staff are working hard to ensure that the equipment is used respectfully, responsibility and safe, many items donated by the PTA have already been broken due to misuse. As we work on a united front, we kindly request parents/guardians to remind their children how to appropriately use equipment such as, hula hoops and jump ropes. We need the equipment to last a long time!

While the PTA wants to run special events and programs, we need volunteers to plan and coordinate them. Any events without committee members will need to be canceled. Please consider volunteering so our children can have the most experiences and opportunities possible this upcoming school year!

8. Spirit Wear competitions starting soon so get yours now!
Spirit wear is currently taking up to 3 weeks to arrive. The first spirit wear competition is in October, so order now to have it in time!

Mrs. Rhoads, Media Specialist, designed new Wayside Spirit Wear for all to enjoy! Check out all the options here. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the PTA.

9. It Takes a Village
Thank you to Melissa Adler for planning a successful, hugely attended Back to School Picnic! Despite the thunder, families and faculty gathered for crafts, food, games and comradery. A huge shout out to Trippy Tacos, Fred’s Ice Cream, Potomac Pizza and our surprise truck, Mastiha Taverna, for giving us all the yummy food.

DM your photos to our Wayside Instagram account to blow up our ‘gram! @wayside PTA All parent/guardian permissions must be granted before DMing photos to instagram. Please respect everyone’s social media practices.

A big thank you to Wayside’s Building Services team as well as Adam Barrer, Christina Superina, Jax Stief and Curtis Winans for helping out!
